Tips to improve your search ranking
Search Engine Secrets - A website created by Brian, the developer of the Desert Realm, to explain how search engines work and particularly how this one works.

Improve your Search Ranking
Once your site is eligible to be indexed, you'll want to be as close to the top of the search results as possible. Below are some suggestions on how to do that.
Spider only keeps the best words
The spider only keeps the top 20 words from your site. This way, only the predominate subjects are searchable.
Spider doesn't speak English
The spider uses spaces and punctuation to separate words. If you have an image called fantasycastle.gif, one of the words it will evalulate is fantasycastle. It doesn't know English well enough to split it into fantasy and castle. However, fantasy_castle or fantasy.castle would get you both words.
Use Good HTML
Use good HTML code. Certain browsers are more forgiving than most spiders. It may display correctly in the browser, but the spider may not be able to interpret it correctly. If this happens, either the entire page or the unreadable portion will be discarded. As a general rule, make sure your website displays correctly in Internet Explorer and Netscape. You may also want to view it in a less known browser called Opera which expects to find well-formed HTML. You can catch many HTML problems by viewing it in multiple browsers.
JavaScript?
The spider doesn't know JavaScript. Because of this, it completely ignores all Script and Anchor tags that call JavaScript functions. Because of this, the spider will not follow links that use JavaScript's location.href method.
Meta Keywords and Description Tags
Use meta keyword and description tags. These are weighted higher than regular text on the document. Don't overuse these tags and have hundreds of words, since the spider may change his mind in the future and base the scores on a percentage of total words rather than the words themselves. Keep it to around 20 keywords.
Spend your time making your website cool
Focus on making your site cool rather than trying to fool the spider. As time goes on, more and more weight will be placed on the voting scores rather than word scores. Having a good site ensures that you will remain high in the rankings.

In fact as time goes on, websites with poor voting scores will be replaced by new websites.
