Unicorn
One of the more popular mythological creatures is the unicorn. A unicorn is a horse with a single horn protruding from its forehead and is commonly depicted with a white coat though other colored unicorns have been seen in pictures and paintings. Caesar mentioned that a unicorn inhabited the Hercynian forest and unicorns have been mentioned in the bible, at least according to some translations. Some believe unicorns to be derived from the rhinoceros since early mentions of it include the reference to the horn atop its head and the fact that it can't be tamed.
Though its origins are uncertain, the fact remains that the unicorn has been a part of myths and legends for at least two thousand years and remains one of the more recognizable fantasy icons.
