Armor
One of the most recognized symbols of the middle ages is the suit of body armor usually clad by a knight wielding a sword or mace and a shield. The archetypal suit of armor represented by the "Knight in Shining Armor" is called Plate Mail or Full Mail and is made of steel; however, armor has been made by just about every type of material known to man including wood, animal hides, leather, bronze, and iron. Armor has also been made in many different fashions using plates, bands, rings, scales, chains, leather and wood padding, and thick cloth.
Whether it's spelled armor or armour depends on where you live as most people in Europe will spell it armour and those in the US spell it armor.
